The College of Science is seeking scientific images from Notre Dame research labs to feature in public-facing displays—including our prominent installation at the South Bend International Airport, which is viewed by more than 1 million visitors each year. These images will also support additional exhibitions and activities designed to increase public engagement with science.
This effort is part of the BioArtography program, originally founded at the University of Michigan and brought to Notre Dame in 2023 by former Dean Santiago Schnell. BioArtography curates striking research images and pairs them with accessible descriptions for public exhibitions. These displays translate the excitement of scientific discovery into engaging art, help explain complex biomedical concepts to patients and community members, and empower scientists to communicate their work more effectively.
Until now, the majority of images in the BioArtography collection have come from University of Michigan laboratories. The College of Science is now working to expand the collection to showcase the breadth and excellence of research taking place at Notre Dame.
Who Can Submit?:
Any Notre Dame faculty member, postdoctoral scholar, or graduate student may submit work produced in their lab or field work.
