Matthew Leevy joined the University of Notre Dame as a post-doctoral fellow in 2005-2007. He returned in 2008 and currently serves as the Director of Biological Imaging within NDIIF and leads an independent laboratory of talented staff, post-docs, and undergraduates. His primary research interests are centered on the 3D printing of anatomical models derived from clinical and pre-clinical X-ray CT data sets. During the past three years, he has accrued over a dozen patent submissions related to 3D printing. These have served as cornerstones for the creation of two start-up companies: In Vivo Concepts LLC and Biomedical Constructs LLC. His group is also active in the development of new in vivo imaging strategies to non-invasively monitor biological models of disease. Their work is currently funded through a combination of generous industrial sources and internal awards. He warmly welcomes new collaborations and executes pilot studies at no charge. Taken together, he operates a vibrant, collaborative, and entrepreneurial laboratory, and has broad experience in imaging technologies including whole animal fluorescence, bioluminescence, planar X-ray, PET, SPECT, MRI, and X-ray CT.
